« Expert VB 2005 Business Objects beta ebo... | Main | Sometimes security helpers help too much... »

Most people are aware of DotNetRocks. But fewer people are aware that the talent behind DotNetRocks has started a new venture: DNR TV. It is kind of like DotNetRocks, only with live video of the computer screen during the conversation. I recently recorded two episodes on CSLA .NET 2.0 for DNR TV:

Look for more DNR TV episodes on CSLA .NET 2.0 in the future.

Both of these episodes are excellent, I can't wait for more of the CSLA content to be in dnrTV.

I agree these videos have helped me get the feel of CSLA quicker then reading the book. But don't worry I know this does not replace the book, it just made me want the book even more. I placed my order for the vb.net version and can't wait to read it now. I think after seeing the videos it will be an easier read for me. I am planning on using CSLA with CAB and Infragistics to create a really great smart client application. Thanks Rockford really great stuff.

I just read the third chapter (2005 C# book). These videos help me to get a firmer grasp of csla2. Watching the videos saved me a lot of time! Although the books is well written and the existences of other learning assistances like: http://www.onelittlevictory.com/. The best way (from my pov) to learn is to hear the "Master" explaining himself.

One of the things that frustrate me is when I try to interest other programmers at csla I always fails. They just "don't want to hear of another ORM framework". It's probably because I'm not a salesman in nature (a big understatement…)
Maybe some of you encounter the same problem.
I think these videos have a grate potential to expand the circle of users that using csla framework thus creating a win-win situation:
* Csla community will become bigger and richer
* New users will benefit from using this architecture.
* rocky will sell more copies.. (:
It would be wise of us to send links to the videos to our fellow programmers...
Spread the words!

I totally agree with Tamir. A "video is worth a thousand words"... particularly a video from Obi Wan CSLA. Throw in a new forum... and the Church of CSLA should grow. Rocky... is the new forum still on the agenda?

I'm pleasantly surprised of the quality and the coverage of the details. It is a great companion with the book, even after you read the book – I should say, especially after you read the book. Also, you should download the code, so that you can click those files when you listen – if you have not installed the .net 20 yet, you can simply use any editor, notepad, or, vim 

This format (voice with the IDE) seems the cutting edge one. Very effective. The only thing is that if there is a script--I know, I am asking for too much.

Yes Mike, a new forum is in the works. Magenic has the server set up, so I just need to find the time to get the software configured and we should be good to go.

I have watched a part of the first video and it is beginning to be clear to me how it works. I live in Belgium and the book is still not available so I'll do it with the videos for the moment. Great work Rockford Lhotka.

I just finished both videos... excellent addition to CSLA education. I think we all are in the iterative improvenment business (iteratively improving our applications, vendors iteratively improving tools and platforms (supposedly :)... why not iterative improvement in education and how we share information. Good stuff... kudos to the DNR guys. I guess the next evolution would be the CSLAers getting to watch live and interacting with live questions. That might be an 8 hour show. :)

I guess using the term "iterative improvement" probably dates me... I should have said "constant refactoring with a sprinkle of TDD". :)

Awesome introduction to CSLA. My only question: When will the next episode be available?
