« Order of book releases | Main | Expert VB 2005 Business Objects status u... »

I have sent off the final code for the book to Apress, which officially means that I have RTM code at this point. You can go here to download the release code for VB or C#.

As a bonus, I also put a test release of a WCF data portal channel up for download - you can get if from this page.

Update: Today (March 22) I recieved my author's copies of the Expert C# 2005 Business Objects book - so it is most certainly in print. What a joy it is to actually see the results of the past several months of work!!

It must feel SO good to actually have the finished C# book in your hands.

Thanks so much for all your efforts and i'm really looking forward to reading the books. I may even try the C# one as well this time ( gulp...)

You always say we should know two languages at least LOL

Give yourself a HUGE pat on the back and enjoy your conferences over next few weeks.

>>You always say we should know two languages at least LOL<<

Well... if that logic holds then maybe all the C#'ers will follow suit and take this advice to heart, thus driving the VB.NET version of the books' sales higher this time around. Then with edition 3, we could get the VB.NET version first! ;-) ROFL...

Any word on the offical release date? Also, on the e-book version from APress? I've developed OCD checking their site for a link to get the downloadable version.

Thanks for all the great work!

I don't have a specific release date for the VB book, no. I can tell you that I have 4 chapters left to proof (the final review stage), which should be done early next week. It is typically about 2-3 weeks from that point to printing, but probably slightly faster to the e-book version.

I got my copy (pre-ordered from Amazon) last Friday (March 24th). I'm already 1/2 way through it. Amazing book! I have read at least 100 books on .NET development and related topics, and this is THE most useful and well written book I've read on anything .NET ever! The guidance your book provides will have a profound impact on all of my furure application designs. I just wish I'd read your previous books...

I especially like your detailed explaination of the thinking behind the decisions you made implementing the CSLA framework, including the pros/cons of the various approaches. That is very useful, even when explaining the directions you choose not to go with. That deep understanding of "why" is what makes this book so much better than the rest.

So... anyone know when Codesmith templates for CSLA 2.0 might pop-up?

I'd like to echo the sentiments made by Stephen Redd and say that I too think your CSLA books are the finest technical books I've ever had the pleasure of reading. I've got a small library of books that I've accumulated over the years that focus on how to accomplish some task. Your books help me understand why I'd want to perform that task.

Your first C# CSLA book was such an inspiration to me Rocky. I've suspected for a long time that I just wasn't approaching my design properly, and after reading your book, I understood why. I was focusing on the data and not the behavior.

I could have learned that elsewhere I'm sure, but I'm glad it was from you.

Anyway, I've purchased both the print and electronic versions of your C# 2005 book and I'm happily reading away.

Thank you so much for all the work you put into these books and the time you take to answer our many questions.
