« Silverlight video series index | Main | Looking for CSLA developers »

I am working on a video series discussing the use of the MVVM design pattern, plus a “zero code-behind” philosophy with CSLA .NET version 4.

I’ve decided to put the intro video out there for free. It is a good video, covering the basics of the pattern, my approach to the pattern and how a CSLA-based Model works best in the pattern.

The rest of the series will be demo-based, covering the specifics of implementation. I’ll add another blog post when that’s available for purchase, but I thought I’d get this intro online now so people can make use of it.

I'm pretty sure you slipped up in the video. Just before the 11 minute mark where you are talking about the reasons to use MVVM, you say that the ViewModel is invoked from the Model, I'm pretty sure you meant to say the ViewModel is invoked from the View. I could be understanding what you are saying wrong, though.

Yeah, that's a mistake. Sadly one drawback of videos is you can't just edit the text :) Fortunately I say it correctly numerous times through the talk.

Finished the video. It was a very helpful start and I can't wait until the rest of it is available for purchase.

I really think this is the next beig thing, MVVM just opens up the interface for colaboration between the programmer and a designer, and that is a very cool thing. Also the posibility of interchangeable XAP file downloads..... wow new industry. How soon are videos going to be available?
